Don't farm raw gold, particularly as a new player in retail as I assume you dont have alts, its just not efficient. I would advise leveling a druid with mining and herbalism. Even if you don't intend on playing with it in the future it's always useful to gold wow classic have because it's the best farming course in the game (moonfire for pulling/1shotting and insta flight kind ). Scan the auction house for expensive old world stuff and get to farming.
